دهه 50 میلادی با تغییرات مهم در تورنتو همراه بود. در این سال‌ها خط مترو Younge افتتاح گردید، پروژه Gardiner Expressway به پایان رسید و شهرداری Metropolitan Toronto تشکیل شد.
با نگاه کردن به عکس‌های آن دوران می‌توان تغییرات بوجود آمده را دید. از حضور بازیکنان هاکی Leafs بدون کلاه‌های ایمنی گرفته تا جای خالی آسمانخراش‌ها، جایگاه‌های روزنامه‌فروشی قدیمی و اتومبیل‌های کلاسیک در خیابان‌ها، همگی به چشم می‌آیند.
